The doors of Dundas St. Centre United Church were open on Sunday (Dec. 16), welcoming guests to the London Community Orchestra’s (LCO) Young Soloists Concert.
Backed up by the LCO under the direction of Artistic Director Len Ingaro, three talented young up-and-coming musicians stepped into the spotlight for the afternoon performance.
Victoria Looby led off program with a presentation of Chaconne for violin and strings (Resphigi) by Tommaso Vitali followed next by Alexia Hlynialuk performing Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto no.1 in G minor, Op. 26.
Wrapping up the afternoon was cellist Anna Grigg with a rendition of Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor. Op 85.
This was the second performance of the LCO’s 2012-2013 concert season.
Next up on the schedule is an afternoon of Beethoven and Mozart selections with pianist Mark Toth accompanying the LCO on Feb. 24.
Tickets are available at the door or through the orchestra’s website, www.lco-on.ca.
